BAIRAVA HEALTHCARE

A complete Ayurvedic cleansing program or the Ayurvedic Detox Diet means one will have to prepare for 15 days and then they need 45 days to cleanse it. The Ayurvedic practitioners give special attention to the diet during both these phases. This is done so that the digestion is not overtaxed and the purification can take place easily. The Ayurvedic practitioners do not recommend fasting or consuming entirely liquid diets as that can cause an imbalance in the digestive fire or Agni.

Here are a few tips for the Ayurvedic detox diet from Ayurvedic practitioners.

Avoid consuming ama-producing foods

Ama is referred to as the product that is a result of incomplete digestion. This is a sticky toxic matter that can block the channels of your body. Since the cleansing is undertaken to clean ama from the body, stay away from foods with a high amount of ama. Processed, canned, frozen, and packaged foods can lead to ama formation. These foods are hard for the body to digest. These non-organic foods introduce toxins in your body and confuse the digestive system. One must also avoid dry bread, refined sugar, heavy desserts as they also lead to the formation of ama in your body.

Eat ama-reducing foods

Opt for foods that are light, cooked, and can be easily digested by the body. Light soups, vegetables cooked with different spices, fresh grains, flatbreads are ideal. Pulses like moong have been found to pacify the three doshas and are very tasty and easy to digest.

During the cleansing phase, consume these foods to aid in the cleansing process. Sweet and juicy fruits like figs, apples, pears are good cleansers. Leafy green vegetables like cabbage, and sprouts are equally helpful in cleansing the body. Whole grains like barley, quinoa, and rice are also recommended during cleansing. Turmeric, ginger, fennel, coriander, and fenugreek help to flush out the toxins from the body. One can add spices to the soups and vegetables during cooking.

Drink plenty of hot water throughout the day

Drinking a good amount of hot water during the day is very helpful for the body. Warm water enables one to flush out the toxins from the body through urine. Add detoxifying spices to the warm water to get the maximum benefits after consuming the water.

After the forty-five days, cleansing period is over, one should slowly introduce heavy foods in their diets and ease back into the regular diet. This will help the body to make good use of the healing process.
